Limestone Canyon 2026

13 NMVFO volunteers joined with AWF Albuquerque Wildlife Federation over Labor Day weekend, returning to Limestone Canyon in the San Mateos for the 20th year.

Most NMVFO volunteers were new to AWF water restoration methods, and we learned about building one-rock dams, trash-racks, and baffles.

This year Limestone had a few pools and wet areas in the water channel, and the meadow was resplendent with tall grasses and wildflowers. Rain showers cooled us during the weekend.
