Truchas

  • SF2T 2026 Day 3, June 11, Thursday
  • Start mile 32.7 Dockweiler Trail
  • End mile 47.7 West Fork Rio Santa Barbara
  • Miles walked: 15.0

The Jaroso Fire burn scar extends about a mile.

Climbing is easier today, and I enjoy reaching Pecos Baldy Lake.

Trailriders Wall is one of my favorite places in the Pecos, with Truchas Peaks in view. At 12k elevation and windy, I have to add a layer.

The route passes near the three Truchas Peaks, and Truchas Lake.

I climb the pass at Santa Barbara Divide on Beatty’s Trail, and enter the Carson National Forest.

Descending along the West Fork of the Rio Santa Barbara, I pitch camp early down at 10k elevation and enjoy the noise of the river.
