NMVFO returned this week with staff from Albuquerque Open Space to resume building new trail on an as-yet-unnamed route in the Juan Tomas Open Space east of Albuquerque, south of Tijeras, near a pull-out on Oak Flat Road.
Gambel oak roots in the path was still a challenge, along with rocky outcrops and fixing outslope.
