Six Socorro Trails volunteers added an alternate segment to the Rodeo Grounds Trail network in Socorro. Rob pitched the work on Thursday, and we showed up on Saturday. A small agile trail group can go out and do work on short notice.

About 18 volunteers and trail staff attended a 3-day WFA class held at Tennis Club of Albuquerque, organized by David at NMVFO, and taught by Rebecca with the Carson National Forest and Stephanie with the Gila National Forest.
Six NMVFO volunteers met at Cowles near the eastern edge of the Pecos Wilderness to trim willow plugs that had been planted along the Pecos River as part of a restoration project earlier in the year. Our briefing is that the young willows were too tall, and needed to be cut back to survive their first winter.
We planted some of the trimmed cuttings closer to the water in case they might root and survive.
