Four NMVFO volunteers hiked the Red Canyon Trail and Spruce Canyon Trails, joined by a short section of the Manzano Crest Trail, on a one-day “add-on” (unadvertised, not on published project schedule) mid-week project to clear downed trees in the Manzano Wilderness.

These two trails are now clear of dead-falls, except for a tangle of trees near the Red Canyon trailhead, left for a youth trail group project, and one or two big logs on Spruce. No lopping is needed on Spruce.
Our two-person crosscut saw was used several times, cutting logs up to 3 feet in diameter.
